Learn the definition of trolling.

Fri Nov 6, 2009, 6:45 PM
Something's been annoying me as of late.

Namely, people thinking that other people are trolling in all of the wrong situations.

If someone is new to your community and asks a question that should have an "obvious" answer, that is not trolling. Even if it's a question that could spark a flamewar, it's possible that they just don't know any better, rather than trying to drum up attention. It's not too hard to tell them apart for me, but some people just drive headfirst at these people and go "TRY MOAR TROLL OLOLOLOLOLOLO". A quick hint: did you know the answer to the question when you first started?

Then you have people who make obvious and outright "stupid" posts. Not stupid as in "something you haven't learned yet", but stupid as in "something that would aggravate a lot of people at once". These are the trolls.

For a quick identifier, check if they've posted more than once in a topic. Newbies will usually be confused and wonder why you're calling them out (or rather, not helping them). Trolls will feign stupidity, ignoring your comment or giving false (and usually obviously half-assed) justification.

Honestly, you make me remove my ascension journal post for this, Internet? I am so disappointed in you.

  • Favourite style of art: Sprites, stick figures, realism, anything that can make funny writing better.

I think it's been two months since the last update. The checking every week thing has sort of made that time seem progressively longer. :(

Welcome to the internet. To go somewhere that's safe for the entire family, turn left. For porn, hentai, or anything else like that, head in any other direction.

My apoplexies. The end of the semester has been ridiculously busy. I'll have to buckle down and write a whole damn stockpile of comics sometime soon.

If you're wanting for something to do while you wait, I have a youTube. Since LP videos are, oddly enough, easier than Cave Parody, I actually already have a stockpile of those that should last long enough.
:iconcyber95:
Just means I move Cave Parody to the bottom of my checking list temporarily. I'm a patient fellow. I mean, there are about fifty billion other webcomics I can read while I wait anyway.

Can't wait until you get going again, though.

I was wondering.
Maybe you should upload your custom cave story sprites you make for other people to use them.

OH-HO! THOUGH YOU MAY BE INACTIVE UPON ##ARENA, I COMMENT UPON THY PAGE GOOD SIR, SO THAT DEATH MAY REIGN FROM THE SKIES IN GLORY UNKOWN TO MAN.
:iconchris-ho:
Just curious, Where do you get your backgrounds for the comics? Do you get them straight from the game?
:iconkalir:
I found a zip file of them somewhere on the Interwebs. I think it was on the Cave Story fan site (miraigamer.net/whateverdiddlybobbins) but I can't be sure. Since the backgrounds are generated by using existing sprites, it's not easy to find them otherwise.
:iconnaughtybudgie:
The weird thing is I have a program that could open the files directly from the folder.
